Hamburg Township, Michigan
This project encompassed a regional shopping center fronting M-36 at Chilson Road. It is anchored by The Kroger Co. with 4 other commercial buildings and two outlots. The 20-acre development is located on a 70-acre site of which almost one-half is wetland area and floodplain that buffers the Huron River.
The site has a pedestrian plaza and a boardwalk link across the wetland to the Lakeland Trail which is part of the Michigan Rails-to-Trails network. M-36 turning lanes and intersection traffic signal improvements were installed for site access.
Civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture services were provided that included site planning, boardwalk and trail design, a Type II municipal water supply with arsenic treatments, underground fire protection storage facilities, stormwater management, floodplain mitigation, geotechnical services, MDOT improvement plans, quality control testing, MDEQ permitting and condominium exhibits.
